Privacy Policy
Greenomes ("Greenomes," "we," "us") helps you order long-read whole-genome sequencing, keep your own raw source files, and revisit them over time. We built Greenomes around a simple idea: your data is yours. This policy explains what we collect today, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It also describes how we intend to handle genomic data once that part of the service is available.
1. What this policy covers today
At this stage Greenomes is an early-access website. The genome vault is not yet enabled, so we are not collecting, sequencing, or storing genomic data yet. Today we only handle ordinary business information: the details you submit to express interest or start a checkout, and standard website/technical data. Sections that describe genetic data are forward-looking and take effect only when the vault launches and you choose to use it.
2. Information we collect
- Information you give us: name, email, phone (optional), and any notes you submit through our forms.
- Order & payment information: when you check out, payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not see or store full card numbers. We retain order records such as the items purchased, amount, status, billing email, and our payment provider's identifiers.
- Website & technical information: basic logs such as IP address, browser/device type, pages visited, and referring page, used for security, abuse prevention, and improving the site.
- Genomic & sample data (future): if and when you order sequencing, this may include sample/collection details and the raw sequencing files and derived results delivered to your vault. We will describe this in detail before the vault is enabled.
3. How we use information
- To respond to your requests, process orders, and provide the service.
- To operate, secure, and improve the website and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To communicate with you about your order and, only with your consent, about product updates.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we will not sell your genomic data. We share information only with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf to run the business (for example, payment processing, hosting, email, and analytics), under contracts that limit their use of the data.
- Legal and safety recipients when we are required by law, valid legal process, or to protect rights and safety. We will not voluntarily provide genomic data to insurers, employers, marketers, or law enforcement, and where genomic data is involved we will require valid legal process and, where permitted, notify you.
- Business transfers (e.g., a merger or acquisition), subject to this policy.
5. Your data ownership and rights
- You own your raw files. When the vault is available, you will be able to download your source files and delete your data.
- Access, correction, deletion, and export of your personal information, subject to legal limits.
- Consent and withdrawal: any optional use of your data requires your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Marketing opt-out at any time.
- Depending on where you live (for example, California and other U.S. states), you may have additional rights. Genetic information is also protected from certain uses by laws such as the U.S. Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA).
To exercise any right, contact us at [email protected].
6. Data retention and deletion
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law (for example, order and tax records). You can request deletion of your personal information, and, when the vault is available, of your genomic data, subject to legal retention requirements.
7. Security
We protect information using encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and audit logging, and we keep what we store to the minimum needed. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and limit who can access it.
8. Children
Greenomes is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a revised effective date and, where appropriate, notify you.
